Using Links In Your Business Presentation

Links to the business website, their review sites and social media is standard at all levels of subscription types on Safe and Trusted Canada.

Safe and Trusted Canada allows other links to occur that may point to certain parts of your business website for all our paid subscriptions.  Should you use linking at all?

Safe and Trusted Canada recommends that linking be used sparingly if at all. We recommend links to your affiliations and we will do this for you at no charge.  If you are no longer have the affiliation then it is easy for you to delete the affiliation through your content management system.

As far as linking to certain parts of your website we want to remind businesses that words can be indexed whereas links cannot.  Links change if your website changes and then this will also ruin your presentation.  Links to an unauthorized website could cancel your subscription immediately and as a Site, we do not wish to see that happen.  Mistakes can occur especially if your representative is unsure of what they are doing.

If you need content help in your profile we will provide it to you as part of our free presentation options.  Moving forward all linking will be completed by our admin staff for security reasons and to ensure proper profiles are maintained.

Should your business require extra links then you must email  admin@safeandtrusted.com

The Site automatically reduces the subscription to an Information Only profile should the subscription be cancelled.  The company may also be archived.

Canada Listings by Province and City

Find Information you need as a consumer about businesses in Canada.

Our Site is expanding and new areas will have less content.

See links to review sites and use our credentials filters to sort and select businesses based on what is important to you as a consumer.

Remember the business can list their business as a Basic Subscription at no charge.  Each trade area will open up into multiple primary categories.  When clicked onto any primary category in blue, it means that there are subcategories and business listings in that category.  As an example see Saskatoon.

The following details all listings in Canada by province and trade area within the province.

The list shows each province.  When you click on the province it opens to
every trade area in the province listed on the Site.  Categories are listed in groups.  The reason for this is that businesses can easily ensure that they are selecting the proper categories for their business and consumers can easily compare similar groups of businesses.

A business should select the primary category first and then the first subcategory in that primary to be properly indexed on our Site.

Jobs and Promotions are at the top of every trade area.   This is new to the Site.

Restaurants and Hotels, the hospitality area has the first group.

Automotive categories are in the second group.

Contractors are in the third group.

Business Professionals are in the fourth group.

Health Professionals are in the fifth group.

Government and Cities are in the sixth group.

All other categories are in alphabetical order.

The other trade areas listed here are major population areas for that province.

All profiles are listed according to our Business Order of Display.

Click on the primary category to see the subcategories. Subcategories in blue have content.

What Causes an Alert About A Business?

Alerts apply to any business. Alerts for Information Only Profiles apply as follows.

An Information Only profile will a temporary alert placed on the business if the business asks for removal or has gone out of business.

For Information Only profiles, the alert is placed on the business, and the business will be archived at the same time that we place the alert.  We will keep the business in our database as archived and not visible.

Alerts for Account Holders occur when a company has committed a major violation of the Site.

If they have never had an account, they can never have an alert.   There are three reasons for an alert.

a)  The Account Holder has placed credentials into their profile that they do not have.  The company has committed a major violation of our Site policies and affected the Site’s credibility and all businesses on the Site.  If they do, the company has committed a major violation of our Site policies. It results in retention on the Site with an Alert Status as an Information Only Profile for a period of one year before archival from the Site.

b)  Account holders can approve business reviews for their business.  The business is cautioned not to approve reviews directly or indirectly from staff, employees or those connected with the company.   If they do, the company has committed a major violation of our Site policies. It results in retention on the Site with an Alert Status as an Information Only profile for a period of one year before archival from the Site.

c) The account holder has gone out of business.

d) The Alert is placed on the business for a period of one year.  After one year, the business is archived and no longer visible.

The Site automatically reduces the subscription to an Information Only profile should the subscription be cancelled.  The company may also be archived.

What is Your Credentials Score?

The implementation of the Credentials Score is now in place for all businesses.

Whenever we deal with a business in the future through account access, credentials will be part of the overall presentation of the business and will be one more part of giving consumers accurate information.

The credentials score is the number generated to separate one business versus another.  Hotels and Restaurants will have a credentials score based on a composite review of review sites.

The credentials score for all other businesses will be a point system based on what the business indicates in their Standard Credentials.  The Standard Credentials ask the business owner to establish their current credentials including licensing, legal requirements, advertised name registration, guarantee that credentials are accurate and that the business has a complaint system directly to the business owner.  The business receives 1 point for every applicable item.

Years in business matter.  There are three options.  10 or more, 5 or more and 3 or more.  Select only one of the three options.   If you have under 3 years in business your allocation is zero points.  If you have 3 years in business your allocation is 1 point,  5 years in business allocate 2 points and 10 or more allocate 3 points.

If the business is a contractor then the business owner checks off all the Contractor Credentials applicable to their business.  There are 14 possible areas that separate one contractor versus another.  1 point is awarded for everything checked off.

There is a form included in the application where the owner can simply check off what applies to their business, or it can be completed with a phone call with the owner of the business.

Remember the business needs to ensure whatever credentials they check off are accurate.  Alerts generation occurs for false credentials with archival happening one year afterward.

The credentials score will now affect the business order of display in addition to the subscription type and date added to our database.  This will give great businesses, even more, an opportunity to shine on our database.

The Site automatically reduces the subscription to an Information Only profile should the subscription be cancelled.  The company may also be archived.

Business Owners Must Ensure Accuracy of Credentials

Every business on the Site with account privileges is expected to list their business credentials correctly.

They must be accurate, and the business guarantees they are when they sign up for an account as they have read our disclaimers.

If a credential they post is not valid and is challenged by a consumer or us, then we flag the business and freeze the account.

Site Admin will place an Alert on that business profile which may remain permanently on our Site. There is no tolerance business profile for listing credentials like licensing, legal status etc. incorrectly.

What is the credential score of the business?

Businesses must follow up yearly to ensure that what was placed on initial entry to the Site is still valid.

The following screenshot shows how the business updates its profile through its back-end management system.

The Site automatically reduces the subscription to an Information Only profile should the subscription be cancelled.  The company may also be archived.

Account Cancellation with F-Rating with Better Business Bureau?

There are some very basic reasons why a business will have an F-Rating with Better Business Bureau.

They are accredited with Better Business Bureau and they have not followed the accreditation agreement they have signed.

They are a business where a consumer has laid a complaint and the business has not responded to the complaint at least on two occasions.

They are a business and are using the BBB logo and are not accredited with the Bureau.

Any or all of the above are not suitable for an account status with  Safe and Trusted Canada and the subscription is cancelled.

The Site automatically reduces the subscription to an Information Only profile should the subscription be cancelled.  The company may also be archived.
