  • Content Management – Add YouTube Videos

Each business with an account has access to the content management system.  There are five subscription options for the business account holder.

They are the Basic, Plus, Standard, Advanced and Professional options.  Each option gives the account more marketing possibilities.

Each account holder can manage several businesses through one account.

Safe and Trusted Canada uses a content management system for business account holders.  There are 13 different tabs available to the business account holder, and depending on the subscription level of the business, determine what tabs are available to the business.

The ninth tab is videos and is available to premium subscriptions only.   This video explains how a business owner can add content to this tab.

The premium subscriptions are the Standard, Advanced, and Professional Subscriptions.   The Standard subscription allows up to 1 YouTube Video, the Advanced subscription allows up to 5  YouTube Videos, and the Professional Subscription allows up to 10 YouTube Videos.

All that occurs is you go to your YouTube Channel and select the video.  When you choose the video, the link to that video will display in your browser.  Copy and Paste the link to your video into the appropriate place in your video management system.  It is that easy.

You may also sell products from a supplier that has a YouTube channel.  If the supplier allows you as a dealer or contractor to showcase what you sell or provide, video can jumpstart your presentation.

The Professional subscription allows direct linking, so if you already have the information on your website, then link it to the area of your website rather than placing a Video in your Safe and Trusted account.

This is a valuable addition to your overall profile.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words.  If that is correct, what is a video worth?   This is your marketing platform for your business.  It is affordable and easy to use.  Why not add as much as possible for the consumer?

A Professional Subscription in smaller marketing areas can be as low as 399.00 per year.  Your competitor has the same options.

Thank you for viewing the video.

The premium subscriptions are the Standard, Advanced, and Professional Subscriptions.   The Standard subscription allows up to 1 PDF, the Advanced subscription allows up to 5 PDFS, and the Professional Subscription allows up to 10 PDFs.

The Professional subscription allows direct linking, so if you already have the information on your website, then link it to the area of your website rather than placing a PDF in your Safe and Trusted account.

If you are adding PDFs, they are great when you want to tell more about your business.  They are great when coupled now hiring areas because they can give the prospective new hire an application form to fill out or much more information about the job that is posted by the business.

If you have a discount or promotion, you might want to attach a PDF to give the consumer more information about the promotion or even the ability to print it off on their printer.

A contractor may want to add some of the presentation materials that they give prospective customers in the form of a PDF.  This is a great way to give information to a potential client.

Information Only profiles will have all review sites displayed for consumers.  The Basic Subscription continues to allow this to occur.  All other paid subscriptions allow the account holder to choose what is available to the consumer.  The exception is Google and Better Business Bureau.  Those review sites will always show on the profile as they are prominent information to the consumer.

Please note that if Google shows that the business is manipulating reviews by hiring or paying people to give positive reviews or if reviews are done by people connected with the business, account access is denied.

Further, if the business has an F-rating with Better Business Bureau, account access is denied.

If a business already has account status and develops concerns with Google or Better Business Bureau, then the account manager will need to correct the problem or lose account status.

  • Content Management – Adding Regions

Each business with an account has access to the content management system. There are five subscription options for the business account holder.

They are the Basic, Plus, Standard, Advanced and Professional options. Each option gives the account more possibilities and marketing options.

Each province or territory has a list of locations.  Each province starts with the largest city listed first, with the capital city listed second.  The exception to this rule is Ontario, where Toronto is the capital and the largest city.  All other locations are in alphabetical order.

Some locations may seem less significant because they are small in size, but surrounding the location may be a significant farming population where the citizens need contractor services.  Contractors can then indicate that they provide their services to those areas.  An example of this is Saskatchewan.

Each business will be assigned a location based on the physical location of the business.  The business will be assigned to the closest trade area available if no current location is assigned.

The Basic and Plus subscription allows only one trade area.  Premium subscriptions allow five for the Standard, ten for the Advanced, and twenty for the Professional subscription.  There are options to purchase more locations for the premium subscriptions.

A business such as a contractor must ensure they meet or will meet licensing requirements for any location they assign to their profile.

The business that wishes to draw customers to its location can do so without a problem if they keep its locations within a one-hour drive from its physical location.  The location should be in the same province.  Exceptions to this rule are locations that border two provinces and the Atlantic provinces.

The extra locations can be a great asset in heavily populated areas of Canada or in less populated areas if the business is a contractor.

  • How to Manage Trade Areas

The first thing to remind you is that your subscription type determines the number of business trade areas.  Our system allows the following.

Please note that Accommodations, Hotels, Food, and Restaurants automatically generate the maximum number of trade areas at every subscription level.

Plus Subscription – 1 Trade Area
Standard Subscription – 5 Trade Areas
Advanced Subscription – 10 Trade Areas
Professional Subscription – 20 Trade Areas.

The Basic and Plus Subscription types allow one trade area.  So generally, this is the physical location of the business.  Adding Trade Areas is not an option for those subscription types.

See the different trade areas in Canada below.

    British Columbia –  BC Areas

    Manitoba –MB Areas
    Ontario – ON Areas
    Quebec – QC Areas
    NewBrunswick –NB Areas
Prince Edward Island – PE Areas
    Nova Scotia – NS Area
Newfoundland and Labrador – NL Areas

Some companies want to place their business presence in other trade areas within their province or even in other provinces. You can set your business in up to 20 trade areas, dependent on your subscription type.

This video is about managing your trade areas for your business profile.

All provinces and territories have their largest city listed first, followed by the province’s capital city.   Some provinces have only one city listed, and the largest city is also the capital.  All other regions are then listed in alphabetical order.

As a reminder, if you are a contractor, you must remember to be licensed in any trade area that you select or will do so if you retain work in that area.

If you ask a consumer through your trade area assignment to come to your storefront business, you only need to be licensed in your physical location.

  • How to Use the Search Options as a Consumer

As a consumer, you can search for a business name or search by city, province, and phone number on the home page as a consumer. You only need the last four digits of a phone number to find a business if it is on our system.

The category search functions have automatic dropdowns that populate according to your search criteria.

In the first search, we placed Saskatoon as the city and are looking for roofing contractors.   See the complete video below.

In the More Search Options, the consumer can narrow their search by picking the business’s credentials they want the company to have.   The owner of the business places their credentials in the standard credential area. If they are contractors, they also set their credentials as contractors.

It is important to note that any credential listed must be accurate. If the business places credentials in their profile that they do not have, that violates the Terms of Service for the Safe and Trusted Canada Site. The business will have an alert on its business profile for one year before archiving the company.   Please note that A F-rating with Better Business Bureau cannot apply for account status.

Businesses can be part of the Request equote program. They need to have a premium account.

The consumer places their name, phone number and email address into the form. Give as much detail as possible so the business can call you back to set up an appointment. The consumer selects the company they want to receive a quote from, which is all there is to it.

Safe and Trusted Canada vets the request to ensure the business receives requests from actual consumers before sending it out to the company.

The Site automatically reduces the subscription to an Information Only profile should the subscription be cancelled. The company may also be archived.
