Safe and Trusted Canada makes it easier for businesses to add categories and subcategories to their profile. The consumer does not use this to find the business. They search on the live site, and we never know what search terms they will use, so that is the reason we have so many duplicate subcategories.
At the top of the page are several tabs where the business can completely manage its profile. You can see we have highlighted the Categories Tab.
Hotels and Restaurants are in the starred area at the top of our database called Accommodations. You will find subsequent categories in Hotels, Food, Restaurants, Travel and Wedding. If you serve food, you may also be able to use the categories Banquet room and Catering. Bed and Breakfasts have their separate category.
Everything Auto starts with the starred area Auto Accessories, with 28 categories in this section. Each category has numerous subcategories.
If you are a contractor, look to the starred area Contractors. Several categories are grouped and are also starred. As an example, plumbing has several other categories that Plumbers often use. In total, there are 76 contractor areas with numerous subcategories. Our Professional account allows the business to list up to 60 subcategories. If you have an accreditation with the Better Business Bureau, you have 20 subcategories at no charge.
If you are a business professional with an affiliation that is required to conduct business, your business is granted the Plus Account at no charge. This gives your business 20 subcategories at no charge. Look for the starred Business Professional category, which follows Contractor. Highlighted areas display major categories with other related categories following.
If you are a health professional with an affiliation that is required to conduct business, your business is granted the Plus Account at no charge. This gives your business 20 subcategories at no charge. Look for the starred Health Professional, which follows the Business Professional categories. Please note that the business needs to have an affiliation to use the Massage Services area. We will not authorize businesses that cannot show an appropriate affiliation.
All other business categories start at the highlighted category, Advertising. Key groups are highlighted with associated categories. There are 74 categories in this area.
The last highlighted group, Other, serves businesses that may not fit a particular major category. There are currently 46 categories, all listed in alphabetical order.
Safe and Trusted Canada may add category groups if there is demand from businesses or consumers.
